The Academy Awards is Hollywood's most anticipated event of the year. This year in particular, there was a lot of talk about Chris Rock's opening monologue as well as Leonardo DiCaprio's Best Actor nomination. Everyone was wondering the same things: How would Chris Rock address the #OscarsSoWhite movement? Would Leonardo DiCaprio finally win his first Oscar? Despite all the buzz surrounding these topics, viewership for the Oscars actually decreased. Some of the biggest headlines surrounding the Oscars include the racism debate, Leonardo DiCaprio, Sylvester Stallone's return to the Oscars, etc. But perhaps the most interesting headline of this year's Oscars conversations is Brie Larson's sudden rise to stardom for her work in Room. Room is a drama/thriller about a woman and her son who have been held in captivity but finally gain freedom, allowing the boy to experience the outside world for the first time. With four Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, the film is projected to win big this weekend with many betting that Brie Larson will take home the Best Actress award. Her sudden popularity has everyone wondering -- who is Brie Larson? Where did she come from? 'Freaks & Geeks' is a television series about the pressures of growing up and wanting to fit in in high school. It's probably one of the most relatable television series ever made about being an awkward teenager, which is probably why it still resonates with people today. Valentine's Day is right around the corner and we know you're looking for the perfect movie, so here it is: Benny & Joon, which stars Johnny Depp, Aida Quinn and Mary Stuart Masterson, is a love story about two "oddballs" who come together by chance and begin a relationship that is everything but normal. The story follows Benny (Quinn) who dedicates his life to caring for his sister, Joon (Masterson) who has a mental illness. Everything changes when Joon loses a bet in poker and Sam (Depp) ends up living with them. Sam does not have a mental illness, but he is eccentric, illiterate and "different" in his own right.
