SAN FRANCISCO, April 16, 2019 – Tubi (www.tubi.tv), the world’s largest ad-supported video on demand (VOD) service today announced it has entered a content deal with anime and manga entertainment company VIZ Media. The deal makes Tubi the streaming home in Canada to the three original Naruto movies – Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow, Legend of the Stone of Gelel, and Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom. The deal also brings seasons one and two of animated series One-Punch Man. Season two is currently airing in Japan with new episodes added every week of broadcast. Tubi customers in Canada can easily access the Naruto franchise and the complete season one of One-Punch Man as well as One Punch Man season two episode one from the largest content library on the planet – completely free starting today.

“We’re excited to super-serving our passionate anime viewers with the Naruto movies and One-Punch Man,” said Adam Lewinson, Chief Content Officer, Tubi. “This enhances what is already the best completely free anime library in Canada, which includes popular titles such as Yu-Gi-Oh!, Hunter x Hunter, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Bleach, and Fairy Tale.”

The Naruto feature films are based on the acclaimed Naruto manga and animated series, following Naruto Uzumaki. In another world, ninja are the ultimate power, and in the Village Hidden in the Leaves live the stealthiest ninja in the land. Twelve years earlier, the fearsome Nine-Tailed Fox terrorized the village and claimed many lives before it was subdued and its spirit sealed within the body of a baby boy. That boy, Naruto Uzumaki, has grown up to become a ninja-in-training who’s more interested in pranks than in studying ninjutsu… but Naruto is determined to become the greatest ninja ever!

Based on the best-selling manga series (also published by VIZ Media, rated ‘T’ for Teens) created by ONE and illustrated by Yusuke Murata, One-Punch Man depicts the adventures of Saitama, a young man who only became a hero for fun. But after three years of “special” training, he finds that he can beat even the mightiest opponents with a single punch. Though he faces new enemies every day, it turns out being devastatingly powerful is actually kind of a bore. Can a hero be too strong?

Tubi continues to expand its already massive content library which presently contains more than 12,000 movies and television series – and expects to grow it at an even greater accelerated pace throughout the year. The company’s content volume is more than double in size to Netflix – approximately 40,000 hours of content. Tubi consistently ranks as one of the most watched apps on the world’s largest platforms including Amazon’s Fire TV, Roku iOS, Android, and many others.

Tubi recently announced record growth in 2018, with 4.3 times the amount of content on the service over the previous year – and in December 2018, customers streamed nearly as much content as all of 2017. The company also announced plans to reinvest profits of over nine figures into content acquisitions in 2019 to rapidly grow its already large catalog.
