The first set photos of Netflix’s Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events were posted Monday and in them, we get a little peek at Neil Patrick Harris as the pointy-nosed, pointy-browed, pointy-bearded villain Count Olaf. The transformation is uncanny — from his ruddy colored nose and cheeks to his winged coif, Harris is Olaf.
The Netflix series, based on the popular children’s books by author Daniel Handler (who will also serve as the show’s writer), is currently filming in Vancouver. Vancity Buzz reports that the set photos were taken during a scene in which “Olaf exits his vehicle and enters a building to purchase a new disguise.” Additional photos show members of Olaf’s shady acting troop.
A Series of Unfortunate Events tells the story of three orphaned siblings — the Baudelaires — who are sent to live with their nefarious uncle, Count Olaf. The scheming Olaf repeatedly imperils the children’s lives — hence the story’s title. This will be the second time the series has been adapted — a film starring Jim Carrey as Olaf was released in 2004.
Joining Harris in Netflix’s adaptation are Patrick Warburton, who will play the story’s mysterious narrator Lemony Snicket, and Malina Weissman and Louis Hynes, who will star as Violet and Klaus Baudelaire.[Vancity Buzz]
