Oscars

The Academy Awards is Hollywood’s most anticipated event of the year. This year in particular, there was a lot of talk about Chris Rock’s opening monologue as well as Leonardo DiCaprio’s Best Actor nomination. Everyone was wondering the same things: How would Chris Rock address the #OscarsSoWhite movement? Would Leonardo DiCaprio finally win his first Oscar? Despite all the buzz surrounding these topics, viewership for the Oscars actually decreased. With just 34.3 million viewers (3 million, or 8% less than last year’s hosted by Neil Patrick Harris), the Oscars’ viewership stayed relatively low in comparison to the past.
